SolarCollege is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a timely mission: to advance the adoption of solar energy on college campuses, and to maximize the benefits of solar energy for campus communities. We are currently sponsoring two interrelated projects: 1. The SolarCollege Collaboration: A collective for collegiate purchasing of solar energy, by the megawatt. Joint RFPs (Request for Proposals) are sent out on a quarterly basis, and vetted by a team of professionals - decreasing the price of solar power for all campuses. Our team of experts assist each individual college to determine its needs, build communal support, develop an RFP, and negotiate the various avenues of financing to find a solution that best suits the needs of the institution. Begins Spring 2009. 2. The SolarCollege Challenge: A competition amongst colleges (by region and size) for the most solar watts installed each year, and consecutively. Awards and prizes presented each year. Begins Spring 2009 SolarCollege is building a coalition of students, faculty, alumni, benefactors, government officials and the solar industry professionals to strengthen the collective and meet the challenge of expediting the adoption of solar energy on campus. We are presently developing our Executive Team, Advisory Board, Regional Leadership, and Campus Leadership.
